How do I connect Brushfire to my payment gateway?

Brushfire works with several different payment gateways to provide our customers with maximum flexibility and compatibility with existing solutions.  If you do not already have a gateway (or you're not quite sure what a gateway is) then you should probably check out this article.

However, if you already have an existing account with a Brushfire-compatible gateway, then you'll just need to provide a little information to Brushfire so we can connect to your account.

Brushfire currently works with the following payment gateways:

We've selected these payment gateways because they all offer a certain set of functionality that provides a consistent user experience throughout Brushfire. For example, all of these payment gateways offer the ability to refund/credit transactions without us having to store sensitive payment information. Brushfire never stores sensitive payment information. We only store the name and last 4 digits of the card or account number to help you look up the transaction if you need to.

In general, there will be 2-3 pieces of information that Brushfire will need from your gateway that we store in our system so when a customer clicks "Place Order," Brushfire knows where to send the payment information. These values uniquely identify your account.

Each gateway requires something slightly different. For a step-by-step example of where to provide this information in Brushfire, check out the video below.

Square

Read this help article for instructions on how to connect your Square account to Brushfire.

Authorize.net (or any vendor providing Authorize.net emulation)

What we need:

  1. API Login ID
  2. API Transaction Key

Where to get it:

  1. Log in at https://account.authorize.net
  2. Click "Account" in the main toolbar.
  3. Click "Settings" in the main left side menu.
  4. Click on "API Login ID and Transaction Key" in the "Security Settings" section

If other vendors are also connecting to this account and you need to generate a new key, please be careful not to disable any old keys without updating those vendors with the new key information.

We also recommend you use the following AVS (Address Verification Service) settings to prevent multiple authorizations on the customer's card in the event of an incorrectly entered address:

  1. Ensure all "General AVS Responses" settings are allowed.
  2. Ensure all "Address and Zip Code Responses" settings are allowed.

If you have not set up a specific user account, then #1, #2, and #3 are the same information you use to log into https://manager.paypal.com. It is recommended that you create a separate "Transaction Password" for use in Brushfire. This way when you are prompted to change your Manager login password periodically, it does not interrupt online transactions. To set this password follow these steps:

  1. Log into https://manager.paypal.com
  2. Click the "Account Administration" tab
  3. Click the "Manage Security" sub-tab under that
  4. Click the "Change Password" sub-tab under that.
  5. Click the link to "Change PayFlow Pro Transaction password"
Please note that it may take up to 1 hour for a changed transaction password to take effect.
